Wilson: Maualuga closing in on starting job

Hard-hitting Cincinnati Bengals rookie linebacker Rey Maualuga is closing in on a starting spot.

Working to overtake Rashad Jeanty, Maualuga is impressing the coaching staff.

For now, the former USC consensus All-American is splitting time wih Jeanty.

“It’s getting close,” Bengals linebackers coach Jeff FitzGerald told the Cincinnati Enquirer. “We’re proceeding and see that the reps are even or weighed a little bit more toward Rey’s side. Just to get him prepared. We would think he would end up being the guy. When he’s ready, we’ll be fit to make the change.”
