  • Obviously nobody is here to read about Association Football [soccer], but it's worth noting Randy Lerner has invested heavily in his other football team, Aston Villa, over the last three years. This summer he spent £30 million acquiring players [about $50 million], and that doesn't include wages. Villa have also invested heavily in facilities recently - in stark contrast to his unloved Brownies, where everyone who visits the treatment room gets a free staph infection. Seeing how much he's lavished on his 'other' team puts his hands-off approach into perspective.
  • At east Lerner isn't afraid to throw some money around. I just hope that he'll find someone to help him spend his money ina wiser fashion than he has in the past. The list of Coaches that the Browns have hired since coming back to the league is like a punch line to a bad joke - Palmer, Davis and Crennel were so bad that they will NEVER be hired as Head Coaches in the NFL again. But they look like Lombardi, Noll and Walsh compared to the atrocity that is Mangini.
  • Randy Lerner is a complete failure in the football business. He was a reluctant owner, having inherited the team, doesn't live in Cleveland and is never visible to the fan base except when stuff like the current mess happens. He never learns from previous mistakes. He fired Butch Davis after his father hired him because Davis had total control and failed msirably, he hires Crennel despite the fact 31 other teams passed on him for 15 years because the NFL told him it was good for "diversity", he then hire Mangini without talking to any football savvy people and gives him total control thereby...
